Social Action

One of TBA’s Seven Guiding Values is Tikkun Olam (Repair of the World): We are guided by the Prophets of Israel and our sacred teachings that call on us to take stands against all forms of hate, oppression and injustice – stands that we understand to be religious imperatives. We understand that our tradition implores us to care for our Jewish brothers and sisters as well as members of our local and global communities and our precious planet.

MONDAY NIGHT SUPPERS

An interfaith project organized and hosted by First Baptist Church to feed 40-70 people in need every Monday night. A variety of local community organizations plan and cook the meal. Volunteers from Temple B’nai Abraham have been planning and cooking the meal on the third Monday of each month for more than three decades. We welcome anyone from our community to join us we are always looking for anyone interested in volunteering or donating food.

Family Promise North Shore Boston

Family Promise North Shore Boston aims to return newly homeless families to economic self-sufficiency, keeping families together during their time of homelessness and helping them through the process of finding support and housing.

TBA is part of a large network of Churches and Synagogues on the North Shore who host (house) and/or support the guests. TBA volunteers provide support to guests at Immanuel Congregational Church in Beverly four weeks per year for 4 days each week. We provide dinner, dinner-time staffing and overnight staffing. We have a passionate group of volunteers who actively participate in helping to improve the lives of these homeless families.

If you are interested in joining us or getting more info, please contact Arnie Cowan.
